Twin Falls, Idaho

Shoshone Falls- Amazing!

My brother had visited me last week. Well, he came to visit Timothy, our son who is 2-months old. As he has never been to Nevada or Idaho, we decided to go on quick road trip for the four of us. The excuse was we needed to go to Costco for food and supplies. It was Timothy’s first road trip. A quick test as we will be travelling to Reno and Lake Tahoe in the upcoming weeks.

We had booked an Airbnb place for the night, which was close to the downtown area. Twin Falls population is 49,202 (in 2017), bigger than Elko’s which was 20,451. Still being a small town, much of downtown closes very early. We ended up walking to the Klover Klub late. With a small population, Twin Falls still offers Uber and Lyft for the ride home.

It was a relaxing trip to Twin Falls. We enjoyed the food at the restaurants visited. I have been to Twin Falls several times. It was the second time going to the Elevation 486 restaurant. Each time, our food was delicious and the staff were nice and attentive. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites are the prime rib and the clams. As it is packed, we had made a reservation each time so that we would be able to get patio seating to enjoy the nice evening view. Note, Elevation 486 is currently offering their 20% giftcard at their local Costco.

It was the first time eating at the Twin Falls Sandwich company. I was impressed and sold. The sandwich that I ordered “the J. Vick” (see below) was delicious. It consisted of two meats- ground beef and pastrami. The fries and home made chips were incredible as well. I would recommend this restaurant as well and will be for sure returning on my next Twin Falls visit.

For places to see. We had a nice visit to Shoshone Falls. The price of admission was $5 per vehicle. We spend time walking to the several sites and relaxing on the grass. What we wished we spent more time was a longer visit to Dierkes Lake! This lake is a worthwhile visit and swim. We were pressed for time. Had we known about it ahead of time, it would have be one of the main stops on our tour of Shoshone Falls Park.

Other recommended places to stop are the Miracle and Banbury Hotsprings in Buhl, ID which is approximately 40 min drive away from Twin Falls. For us, we would stop there when it gets colder and in the winter.

Two spots we look forward to on our next visit are: Balance Rock Park in Buhl, ID and Evel Knievel Snake River Canyon Jump Site. If you’ve been there feel free to comment and tell me how it is.
